Enea Netbricks Line of Protocols for Error Correction and Data Compression

Enea offers a wide range of highly portable telecom protocol stacks for TDM, 3G, IMS, and NGN networks, as well as fax and data transfer protocols and signal processing and analysis software. All Enea Netbricks protocols stacks are compliant with ITU, ETSI, ANSI, IETF, 3GPP, and many other standards bodies’ specifications. 

All of Enea Netbricks protocols are written in ANSI C and take advantage of a modular, portable architecture that allows hardware platform and compiler independence. Enea Netbricks protocols are provided in source code to over 400 network equipment providers (NEPs), and device OEMs worldwide, assisting them in getting products to market quickly, with very low risk and significantly reduced development costs.

ENEA V42-BRICKS is a source code software product belonging to Netbricks™ product line that provides error correction (LAPM) and data compression in conformance with ITU V.42 and ITU V.42bis recommendations. Support for MNP4 and MNP5 is included.


Software components implementing error correction and data compression are under control of a control function layer according to ITU-T V.42 recommendation overall architecture description.

  • V42-Bricks is designed to work with PSTN (ACU-Bricks) and ISDN (ISDN-Bricks) signaling provided by Netbricks and with Netbricks FAX-Bricks and ISDN Terminal Adapter architecture (AT commands driven).
  • Netbricks provided a drivers for modem chipsets (Conexant, Motorola) and a driver for supporting modem modulations : V.21, V.22, V.22bis, V.32, V.32bis using SOFTMODEM-Bricks and also Audio processing for PSTN signaling (DTMF, CNG, CED).
  • V42-Bricks architecture is based on Enea Netbricks architecture using object oriented design and amessage passing mechanism for inter-entity communication. V42-Bricks is designed to process arough synchronous byte stream or to support HDLC controller. Interfaces to most of commercial RTOS including Enea OSE are provided.
